Defragmentation
After a bout of installations, or a lot of creating and deleting large files, it is always a good idea to defragment the hard drive.
- First, empty whichever temporary folder you use to install programs.
- Then run Disk Cleanup: Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.
- Make sure to check the Recycle bin.
- Then run Disk Defragmenter: Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter.
- Ignore any messages saying that Windows does not recommend defragmentation.
- When the program is done, restart the computer.
