Machine Access Code (MAC) / Network Interface Card (NIC)

There are three ways to find the MAC address for a PC running Windows 2000. Here they are, in descending order of easiness:

  1. Start | Run | cmd, and enter ipconfig/all at the DOS prompt. Look under Physical Address.
  2. Enter net config workstation at the DOS prompt. Look at the end of the data under Workstation active on.
  3. From the Windows desktop, right-click My Computer and select Manage | System Information | Components | Network | Adapter. The right side of the window will display the MAC address. Make sure you get the Ethernet 802.3 Adapter MAC address.
