NOTIS/LUIS

The Libraries currently use the LUIS or NOTIS library management system only for LTQF volumes, interfacing through Hummingbird Host Explorer

Installation

  1. In Windows Explorer copy the file HBSTUDNT.zip from smathersnt2\ReadOnly\Host Explorer to a local temp folder. This may take a few minutes. Also, it often freezes Windows Explorer. Be careful.
  2. Double click the local copy to unzip it.
  3. Open the newly created copydir folder and double click setup.exe to run the Host Explorer installation.
  4. Accept all the default values.
  5. The install should leave the Host Explorer folder open. If not, then select Start | Programs | HostExplorer.
  6. Double click the TN3270 icon.
  7. Click the plus sign next to the 3270 folder.
  8. Select 3270/default.
  9. Under Host name, enter nermvs.nerdc.ufl.edu. [Note that the first string is nermvs, not nervm.]
  10. Select Connect. A session window should open.
  11. Select File | Save Session Profile.
  12. In the box under Saved Session Profiles, select default and type NOTIS in its place.
  13. Check the boxes next to Save Layout and Create Shortcut.
  14. Under HLLAPI Short Name, select A, then Save.
  15. A window will open displaying Choose the folder where you'd like to save the shortcut.
  16. Navigate to All Users\Desktop, and select OK.
  17. Select File | Exit All | Yes.
  18. Double click the new NOTIS desktop icon.
