Windows Services
The Windows operating system ships with some services "started" and some "stopped".
Select Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Component Services.
Right click the name of the service, and select Start or Stop from the context menu.
The following services should be started and set to automatic:
- Computer Browser
- Server
- Windows Time
The following services should be stopped and set to disabled:
- DHCP
- FTP Publishing
- Help and Support
- Hummingbird [all of these services]
- IIS Admin
- Internet Connection Firewall
- Telnet
