Digital Library Center: Copibook Quick Start
Printable version
- Turn on lights and external monitor. Turn on Copibook (round button on right-side back of machine when you’re facing the front). This takes a few seconds up to a minute.
- Attach hard drive to computer and turn on.
- Make the bib folder on your drive and remember to share the drive and the folder.
- Once copibook is on, click on US/British flag
- On next screen, click key icon on the top right.
- Click on the “destinations” tab.
- Click the green “+” icon.
- Make sure network is selected.
- Enter BIB ID# in both the “Label” and “Path” boxes.
- Enter server name which is the WSID of the computer (on the tower).
- Enter the username.
- Skip the password unless the computer has a password.
- Click the small scanner icon in the bottom left to test the destination.
- If it seems like nothing happens after a few seconds, then it’s fine.
- Click the green check to go back to the first screen. Here, click the scanner button on the bottom left.
- On the next screen, click on the “Auto” tab and uncheck both autos. Click the green check mark and you’ll return to the screen above. This is also where you can select how the glass works (closing it = auto scan; auto-open after 5 seconds).
- Click the balance/focus tab, click on “Autofocus” (the little book icon above the red X). For this, you need the copibook set up and the book/paper in place. Let the copibook auto-focus (it’s done when it stops making noise). Click the green check mark to go back to the main screen.
- On the same screen again (like the one above for #7), click on the book icon next to the scanner icon.
- Click the format tab. Choose one or 2 pages and grayscale or color. Resolution should be 300ppi and format should be “auto”.
- Click on processing tab. We only use “ABC” or "detail enhancement", so make sure it’s in the middle or add it.
Click on the “Save” tab. Make sure “processed image” is checked and then click on the icon across from it (wrench over rainbow).
- Destination: should be BIB
- Format: TIFF
- Subdirectory: VID
- Autofile names:
- First box: BIB and VID
- Second box: start at 1 for a new project
- Third box: leave blank
