Digital Library Center Technologies

UF's Digital Library Center relies on various technologies and collaborates with various technological initatives like Digital Preservation in order to create and sustain the online collection UFDC. Technologies in use include in-house hardware and the use of digitization vendors.

Digital Single Lens Reflex (dSLR) Cameras (used with book cradles and more for tightly bound book scanning + 3D object scanning)

UF has worked with this vendor to convert archives, books and journals to both page-images and searchable-text from microfilm and digital image. Text conversion services utilize either optical character recognition (with or without correction) or double-keying. Aptara was formerly known as TechBooks.

Text conversion services utilize highly accurate optical character recognition. Demonstrated ability to convert and validate newspapers per National Digital Newspaper Program requirements.
