Learning about the UF Libraries
Online orientation provides information about the libraries before you come to the library. The UF Library system is composed of subject libraries and collections. The Education Library supports the academic degree programs in the College of Education. We are also the home library for students attending the English Language Institute.
Computing/Printing/Copying
PC computers are available at the Education Library; you must logon with your Gatorlink account. Please be sure to work with the ELI Office to obtain an account before you come to the Library. Patrons may access the vast holdings of the University system, the Internet, and productivity software. More information on photocopying/printing is available.
Scanners and microform machines are also available. The Education Library has one copier/printer machine requiring use of an activated Vending Account on the Gator-1 Card.
Borrowing Books
- Your Gator1 card allows you to check out materials (5 items from any campus library).
- Search the Library Catalog
- Renew Materials/View Account Online
Borrowing a Locker
You can check out a locker at the Education Library for a semester-long period at the Circulation Desk.
Buying Books
You can purchase books, magazines, records, and maps from the Smathers Library Bookstore. These are gifts not added to the libraries' collection or duplicate materials donated to the Library system.
Finding Resources
The ELI resources page shows how to search for certain types of materials such as books, videos, journals and the articles within them, and test guides.
Only while you are on campus using a campus computer can you access the following databases:
- Academic Search Premier for articles from journals and magazines
- Testing & Education Reference Center for test preparation materials such as TOEFL and GRE
Getting Help
You can ask for help using the computers, library databases, printers and photocopiers from any library staff member. You can meet with us face to face by scheduling an individual consultation with a librarian or visiting us on the reference desk when we are open. You can also email us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; most questions will be answered within 24 hours of receipt.
