Circulation Services

The Circulation Desk is the place to inquire about general library information. The desk is staffed all hours the library is open and has available helpful printed information about library services, policies and procedures.

The Circulation Desk houses the Reserve Collection, a video collection and materials being held for patrons. Patrons may also inquire at the Circulation Desk about fines, overdue notices, lost or damaged materials, and other questions relating to the library.

Copy Services

The Education Library has three photocopy machines for patron use.
Copies cost $.13 with a UF Copy Card. Oversize copies, 11" x 17", are also available.
All of the machines are capable of enlarging and reducing the original image.

Two copy card vending machines are located near the Circulation Desk. Cards are $1.00 and are re-usable.
You must use a $1.00 bill to purchase a card. (Coins cannot be used at these machines).

They are encoded with $.65 initially. Money can be added to the cards at the copy card dispenser/re-value station only(located on the east side of the column). The card dispenser/re-value station can accept bills only, ($1.00,$5.00,$10.00 and $20.00).
Any amounts above the $1.00 needed to buy a card will be added to the value of the card.

Change is not available in the library.

The library has two microfiche/microfilm readers that can scan to a HP Laserjet printer and one workstation that can scan microforms to pdf or image files, which then can be saved to removable storage or burned to a CD.

Copying/printing requires a copy card and the cost is $.13 per page. Ask at the Circulation Desk for assistance in using these machines.

Available for printing from Windows PC's is a networked Xerox laser printer. This printer will allow students to print search results or items found on the Internet.
Printing requires a copy card and the cost is $.13 per page.

Computer Services

Adjacent to the Circulation Desk are a number of  PC computers. Through these computers, patrons may access the vast holdings of the University system. The PC's are fully compliant Windows personal computers with access to the UF libraries' catalog and the Internet.   Wireless access is available through out Norman Hall.

Instructions for elevator use are as follows

The person requesting the elevator picks up the intercom phone to the right of the elevator door on the ground floor. This rings a buzzer at the Circulation Desk upstairs. The attendant there picks up the phone and the patron then requests assistance at the ground floor level.

The attendant is required to respond within 1-2 minutes to this request. If the patron needs assistance entering the elevator, the attendant can lock the elevator door open. After assisting the patron into the elevator, if needed, the attendant takes the patron to the requested floor of the library and waits until the patron has exited the elevator successfully. The Circulation Desk and the Reference Desk are on the first floor. The Education Library and Judaica Library collections are on the second floor.

Patrons needing assistance while inside the library, e.g. to exit or go to the upper level, need to ask at the Circulation Desk for assistance, and again the attendant is to respond within 1-2 minutes.

Note: In the unlikely event that there is only one staff member at the Circulation Desk, the staff member needs to convey to the caller that he/she is alone and needs to call a backup person to the Circulation Desk before he/she can leave the desk to go to the elevator. For security reasons, the Circulation Desk or the Education Library may not be left unattended. This is the only case that there may be a delay beyond the response time of 1 to 2 minutes.
