OPTION 4: Journals by Publisher
  • Specific UF-subscribed E-Journal titles from these publishers will be listed in the E-Journal Locator database (OPTION 1) and the UF Libraries' Catalog (OPTION 2).
  • Alert! UF may not have access to all titles listed on these publisher sites, or to all years that are indicated as published.
  • Some of these sites do allow searching by subject. If you find that articles are not in the UF Libraries' collections (electronic or paper), these articles may be requested via the Interlibrary Loan service (by current UF students, staff, and faculty).

OPTION 4: Journals by Publisher
A number of research journal publishers have created their own web sites where they organize access to their own publications. Where possible, the UF Libraries license access with the publisher for a fee.

Key Points

  • If possible to link to the "front page" of a journal, direct links are being added to both the E-Journal Locator (OPTION 1) and the UF Libraries' Catalog records (OPTION 2) for these journals. In some cases these catalog links may go to a page from which you must select or search for the journal title within the publisher's service.

  • The beginning date of electronic availability of a journal varies by publisher and title. Access to many older volumes of journals is not available electronically -- and may never be -- although some publishers are converting older volumes.

  • When connecting to an E-Journal publisher's site, keep in mind that UF may not have subscribed to all journals available from a publisher, so your access may be limited. You may be able to see abstracts or take advantage of other services from that publisher; you may just be unable to view the full text. NOTE: You can use the E-Journal Locator (OPTION 1) as a fairly reliable source about whether full-text of a title found on these publisher sites should be available.

  • Most allow searching for a journal name and listing the table of contents of each issue.

  • Many also allow searching for articles by keyword, subject, etc. located in any of their publications at one time.

  • If you find that articles are not in the UF Libraries' collections (electronic or paper), these articles may be requested via the Interlibrary Loan service (by current UF students, staff, and faculty).

  • Many may include special services to notify you when a new issue has become available, etc.
