The Friends of the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida is composed of individuals who recognize that great universities become great and are sustained by great libraries.

To become a member of the Friends of the George A. Smathers Libraries, please print the application form and mail to the address shown. Application form

Member Benefits:

Student Friend $15+; Friend $50+
A Friend or Student Friend receives Chapter One, the newsletter of the Friends of the George A. Smathers Libraries, a 10% discount at Books, Inc. plus invitations to many library events (e.g., lectures, exhibitions, educational and cultural activities)

Contributing Friend $125+
A Contributing Friend receives the above benefits plus free borrowing privileges with extended checkout for one person and invitations to Friends’ events.

Book Friend $250+
A Book Friend receives the above benefits plus free borrowing privileges with extended checkout for up to three family members and invitations to special behind-the-scenes workshops.

Librarian’s Friend $500+
A Librarian’s Friend receives the above benefits plus free remote access to EBSCO’s Academic Search and Business Source Alumni Edition which provides full text for nearly 1,000 publications as well as indexing and abstracting for over 8,000 publications.

Dean’s Circle $1,000+
The Dean’s Circle is our most exclusive level: members of the Howe Society and Stewards of Florida History. Members of the Dean’s Circle receive all of the above plus invitations to special library functions, personal meetings with authors and guests, priority use of library facilities, intimate semi-annual briefings from the Dean of Libraries and invitations to exclusive social functions.

All monetary gifts to the libraries count toward the membership level.
