The two Accessibility/digital media production rooms (Rooms 335 and 336), the Media Viewing/Video-conferencing Room (Room 229), and the Group Presentation Area must be reserved by calling the Reference Staff at (352) 273-2665 or visiting our desk on the 3rd floor of Library West. Only University-affiliated patrons can reserve these areas for working on educational or research projects. Note that these areas are not intended for regular classroom instruction and standing reservations for class use are not accepted.

Intended Uses:

Accessibility and Media Production Studios
Library West Rooms 335 and 336 offer assistive and multimedia technologies for one to four users to work on educational or research projects. For accessibility users, the same Accessibility Suite (Premier Assistive Technology) offered by the Dean of Students’ Office is available. Video and audio editing users can also use the studios for their academic projects. Please note that you must bring a camcorder or other source player to transfer your digital project to the PC (at this time). A scanner, headphones, graphics tablet and other peripherals are also available.

Group Presentation Area
This collaborative work area allows UF-affiliates to create and view various digital medias using a library workstation or personal laptop, 61” plasma display, VHS/DVD player, and wireless headphones, keyboard and mouse.

Media viewing/video-conferencing room
Library West Room 229 is equipped with the technology for users to create and view various digital media using a library workstation. With a VHS/DVD/CD player and projector, a maximum of 10 users can also use this space as a media viewing center. In addition, this room serves as a location for global teleconferencing. A minimum of 6 patrons are required to reserve this space.

Procedure:

  • Reservations are taken in 2-hour blocks. Please reserve an area at least 24 hours in advance by calling the Reference Staff at (352) 273-2665 or visiting our desk on the 3rd floor of Library West.
  • Patrons are expected to be on time for the reservation. Reservations are forfeited 15 minutes after the scheduled time. Please make cancellations at least 24 hours before the scheduled time.
  • You will need to check out the key to the room at the Research Assistance Desk on the 3rd floor and return the key after use.
