Copying and Printing in the UF Libraries

Photocopiers
Photocopiers are available in every library. Copies are 13 cents each, except for oversized (11" x 17") copies which cost 26 cents. Use a library issued copy card to make copies; you can not make copies using currency or coins.

Color photocopiers
Color scanners are available in the Architecture and Fine Arts Library and in the Map & Imagery Library.

Printing from a computer
Computers use copy cards only. The charge is $.13 per page.

Printing from microfilm
Microfilm printers are located in Marston Science Library's Microform Center. These printers use copy cards only, at a charge of $.13 per page.

Copy cards

  • Buy your card at a library copy card dispenser. Use bills ($1.00, $5.00, $10.00 or $20.00) to purchase a copy card. It costs 35 cents for the card and the remaining value is for copying.
  • Use your copy card over and over! When you run out of money, add more to value to the card at a copy card dispenser.

Purchase copy cards from dispensers in these locations:

  • Architecture and Fine Arts Library (main level, by the photocopiers)
  • Education Library (across from the circulation desk)
  • Health Science Library (second floor, on the south wall)
  • Legal Information Center (copy room, 1st floor near main reading room)
  • Marston Science Library (2nd floor, by the windows)
  • Smathers Library (first floor, Humanities & Social Sciences and fourth floor, in the Latin American Collection)

Printing from computers
The UF Libraries use a shared printing network. This means that several people at different computers are printing documents to a shared printer. How do you find your printouts? Read the following:

  1. Obtain a copy card.
  2. Print your documents on your computer workstation.
  3. As you print, the computer will prompt you to assign each print job a name. If you are printing several things, you can name them all the same name.
  4. Go to the appropriate print center to pick up your print job.
  5. Put your copy card in the card reader.
  6. Enter the name you gave to your print job(s) and hit the enter key on the keyboard.
  7. Choose the print job(s) that you want to print. Highlight them by clicking on the print job with the mouse. (To select multiple print jobs, hold down the CTRL key while you are selecting them.)
  8. The cost will be deducted from your copy card, then your document will be printed on the adjacent laserprinter.

Problems
If you experience problems with a photocopier, or with a printer, ask for help at the nearest circulation or reference desk.
