Using the UF Libraries' Catalog

Holdings Record (Books)

To pull up the Holdings Record for a book, CD, video or other single-item work, you must do one of the following:

A holdings record lists all the items or copies that the library owns for a particular title and gives the location and call number:

[Book holdings record]

In the example above, you will notice that the first copy is not checked out and is available in the Education Library under the call number QA278 .S74 1996 . The 2nd and 3rd copies are checked out to other users.

When you are looking at a Holdings screen, notice the options to select a year, a volume, or a sub-library. Set the "Select Sub-library" to ALL to make sure you're seeing all the volumes in all the libraries included in that record.

You may need to scroll down longer records to see the item details (due date, etc.)

Registered UF library users are able to request that any item(s) with a Request link in the left position of this "items" display be retrieved or recalled and held for them. In the example above, if you wanted to request title, you would just click on the Request link to the left of the item in the items list. This utility requires that you sign-in with your 14-digit library number or UFID if you have not already done so.

NOTE: The holdings display for a journal, magazine, newspaper, or similar serial is a little different. See the help screen for Holdings Record (Journals) for more details.
