  Florida Journalism History Acknowledgements

Thanks goes out to a number of people and groups who have been instrumental in the development of this project:

David Shedden, Library Director at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida for creating the centerpiece of the project, the Chronology of Florida Newspapers, and for his support during the development process. His excitement for, and interest in, the topic of Florida journalism helped reinforce the importance of completing the project!

Erich Kesse and the staff at the Digital Library Center at the University of Florida for the digitization of many of the full text materials as part of the Florida Heritage Collection and the Publication of Archival Library and Museum Materials (PALMM) initiative.

University of Florida Librarian Marilyn Ochoa for assisting in the site design and the Web development.

Jim Cusick, Curator of the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History at the University of Florida for his knowledge of Florida history, which helped in establishing a perspective of where journalism fit into the development of the state, and for his assistance in locating images to use in the project.

Special thanks to University of Florida Librarian Emeritus Dolores Jenkins who first recognized the need for a resource like this.
