Join exhibition curator, Rebecca Jefferson on a tour of the Jewish Jacksonville Exhibition. Rebecca Jefferson will provide a short overview of the history of Jacksonville Jewry, a guide to the exhibition and insights into its creation, as well as the stories behind particular items of interest.

“Jewish Jacksonville within 250 Years of Florida Jewish History”
Marcia Jo Zerivitz is the Founding Executive Director of the Jewish Museum of Florida and has been a leader in the organized Florida Jewish community for 50 years. Ms. Zerivitz initiated the legislation for both a Florida Jewish History Month in 2003 (each January) and a Jewish American Heritage Month in 2006 (each May) to increase awareness of the contributions by Jewish people to the state and nation.

Professor Norman J. W. Goda will discuss his book Hitler’s Shadow – Nazi War Criminals, US Intelligence, and the Cold War. The book investigates how and why numerous Nazi war criminals, including high officials of the Gestapo, escaped prosecution at the end of the Second World War. Professor Goda will share his perspective as a writer, historian and researcher. Q&A and discussion will follow. Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to attend.
Goda is the Braman Professor of Holocaust Studies, Department of History, University of Florida.

Sacred Trash: the lost and found world of the Cairo Genizah
A talk by Peter Cole and Adina Hoffman

The Price Library co-sponsored, with the Center for Jewish Studies, a talk by the authors, Peter Cole and Adina Hoffman.
Adina Hoffman is an award winning biographer and her husband Peter Cole is a highly acclaimed poet and translator; both run a
small press, Ibis Editions dedicated to the poetry and prose of the Levant. Hoffman and Cole will read from and talk about their
latest book, Sacred Trash: the Lost and Found World of the Cairo Genizah, recently described by Harold Bloom as ‘a small masterpiece’. Sacred Trash was also named the
recipient of the 2012 Sophie Brody Medal for outstanding Jewish Literature. Learn more
