LAC>>Microfilm>>Newspapers
The University of Florida has an extensive collection of Latin American
newspapers on microfilm, with special emphasis on the Caribbean area. All
titles listed below may be viewed in the reading room of the Latin American
Collection.

Some of the titles are major daily newspapers, and others are rare papers of
special historical significance, such as the Cuban Exile
Newspapers, and the Jornais
Operários and the Jornais Diversos
from Brazil. The University of Florida continues to microfilm
various newspapers from the Caribbean area in an effort to provide future
researchers access to this valuable information.
Researchers may also wish to check the LASER Union List of
Newspapers or the Center for
Research Libraries for titles not available at the University of Florida
(although we suggest checking with LAC Staff first).
Newspaper Holdings Listed Alphabetically by Country
Caribbean Newspaper
Imaging Project (CNIP)
With generous support of
the Andrew H. Mellon Foundation, UF's Digital Library Center has scanned
and digitized part of its holdings of two Caribbean newspapers (Le
Nouvelliste from Haiti and El Diario de la Marina from Cuba) to
create electronic access to them. A selective subject index has
also been created for both newspapers. The project website may be
viewed here.
