JOB TITLE: Telecommunication Specialist (Tel-com
Spec)
- I get to write numbers on all the software that comes to the Libraries
- I get to put ends on wires that keep breaking
- I get to make wires longer because everyone wants their machine a foot farther away from the wall connection than the cable that came with it will reach
- I get to give out IP addresses and then change them a week later because people want to move all their equipment to a different location
- I get to change the batteries on the front door security lock because everybody wants to come by to visit and wears them out
- I get to answer questions about the Library buildings because I used to work in Facilities Planning and Physical Plant
- I get to make pies and cakes to celebrate the birthdays of Systems employees (which I really enjoy, but don't ask me to do it for yours)
- I even get to visit your department on occasion - because your computer won't work or you want to move a wall
- I get to crawl around in the ceiling and look for ways to get network wiring connections to you
- I may have missed a few
I am sure you all know I enjoy doing all these things - and maybe even picking on a few of you while I do it! So if you need me, just send an email to SYSHELP - and I will get there sometime in the next week or so.
By the way, it is rating time, so brag me up to Destry and Bill - and tell Lee how lucky she is to work with someone like me!
