  • The Rainbow of Gems from TradeShop.com.
  • Alphabetical Mineral Reference from the "Gems and Gem materials" course syllabus of Jill Banfield, UC-Berkeley.
  • Dinobase, a dinosaur Web Site from the University of Bristol, includes images, species lists, and taxonomy.

  • Life Sciences

  • Mammal Species of the World contains the names of the 4,629 currently recognized species of mammals, in a taxonomic hierarchy that includes Order, Family, Subfamily, and Genus.
  • Herpetology from the Florida Museum of Natural History (FLMNH) includes identification guides to snakes, amphibians, reptiles, more. The FLMNH offers many other research and collections pages.
  • PLANTS Database from the USDA "is a single source of standardized information about plants." Search by common or scientific name.
  • Vesalius' On the Fabric of the Human Body, anatomical atlas first published in 1543 with diagrams and woodcut drawings.
