Connecting from Off-Campus
Off campus access to library-licensed e-Journals, research databases and e-resources is limited to current UF students, staff, and faculty. In order to access this material from off campus you must authenticate yourself to the UF network using one of the two following methods.
1. Using the UF Virtual Private Network (VPN) Software
VPN software allows UF faculty, staff and students to securely "tunnel" into campus over other networks, such as their home internet connection, and access services as if they were on campus.
Before installing the VPN software, make sure you have an active GatorLink account and are running the latest version of Java (for automatic installation).
Full instructions for installation can be found on the GatorLink Anyconnect Installation
Instructions page.
Desktop/Laptop devices:
- Browse to http://vpn.ufl.edu and enter your GatorLink credentials.
- The VPN client will attempt to automatically install the appropriate version for the operating system. If successful, the program will launch after installing.
- If the automatic installation fails, directions for manually installing the client can be found here for different operating systems:
Mobile devices:
Apple App Store Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client (please note the iPhone’s built in VPN program will NOT work)
iPhone configuration instructions
Please note: You MUST start the VPN application on your device BEFORE you launch your Internet browser to access Library resources.
Otherwise you may be denied access or prompted for a login password.
2. Using the Library proxy
- Ensure that your Web browser is set to accept cookies
- In the grey box to the left, enter your GatorLink username and password and click the Login button.
