Update on Library West opening and services

Library West opened for service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2. Enter the building from the Plaza of the Americas via the escalator or ADA elevator. The library is open for regular fall hours. The move has been completed.
Collections
The move of the reference collection, periodicals, videos, microforms and all Library West books has been completed. Library users may go into the stack areas, retrieve materials and take them to the second floor circulation desk for check-out. Records in the library catalog may still have a request retrieval button, but it is no longer necessary to request these items online.
Services
Circulation desk and general Information Point staff are available at the top of the escalator on the second floor. Floorplans for the building are available at this desk, and individual floorplans are posted in the directories adjacent to the elevators.
Materials may be returned at the circulation desk on the second floor or at the drive up book returns at the east end of the building.
Research assistance and reference services, the reference collection, and public computers are now available on the third floor.
Study Areas
The building is open for general study. Most seating areas, including group studies, are available for general use. Most of the public computers on the third floor are ready for use. Work is still being done on the graduate and faculty studies, so they are not yet available for use. Assignments for faculty studies and graduate studies are now being made. Requests may be submitted on the forms available from the Online Requests section of the library home page. Group study requests can be made at the circulation desk on the second floor.
Work has begun on the Starbucks cafe on the first floor. It is scheduled to open October 23. During initial construction, the stacks immediately adjacent (call numbers HP14 – HV9950) will be inaccessible.
