about book and paper preservation
The
conservation unit of the University of Florida George A. Smathers Libraries’
Preservation Department is holding “open hours” on Tuesdays from 1:00 to
4:00 pm. throughout the fall semester. Conservation staff will demonstrate
various methods such as repair and rebinding, deacidification, restoration, map
encapsulation and other projects. Staff will be available to explain the work in
process and answer preservation and conservation questions.
Everyone
– including faculty, staff, students and the public -- is invited to stop by
to watch, learn and ask questions of the conservation unit staff.
Enter through the side door of the Preservation Department located down the long hallway past the bookstore on the first floor of Smathers Library (East). For more information call 392-6962.
