Call for readers for libraries’ third annual Read-A-Thon
Celebrate National Library Week April 11-14 by reading a story, poem or excerpt from a favorite book during the George A. Smathers Libraries’ Read-A-Thon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. under a canopy on the Plaza of the Americas.
The Read-A-Thon is a lively, fast-paced and casual celebration of reading.
Here’s how it works: Each day, April 11-14, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.,* UF faculty, staff and students, along with community members will sign up to read ten-minute segments from their favorite book. Listeners meander in and out of the canopy to listen for a few minutes or an hour. There are all kinds of readings - adventure, mystery, humor, poetry, history, philosophy, children’s books, short stories - you name it!
Click on Reading Schedule to sign up to be a reader. And be sure to stop by the canopy April 11-14 to listen to a few good stories.
*Tuesday is Children's Literature Day and begins at 10:00 a.m.
