Landscape Architecture Exhibition
The exhibition “John Ormsbee Simonds Remembered – Visionary Landscape Architect, Planner, Educator, and Environmentalist (1913-2005)” will be open November 15, 2005 – February 3, 2006 in the Special Collections exhibit gallery of Smathers Library.
John Nemmers, from the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections, with the assistance of landscape architecture faculty and students, created the exhibition to honor John Simonds, one of the most influential modernist landscape architects in the United States.
The opening reception will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. in the Special Collections Research Room next to the exhibit gallery. The guest speaker is Herrick H. Smith, FASLA, professor emeritus and former chair, UF Department of Landscape Architecture.
The reception is sponsored by the Howe Society, a support organization of the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections, is free and open to the public.
