Haiku contest winners announced
The winners of the George A. Smathers Libraries’ haiku contest in support of National Poetry Month have been announced. The three winning haikus, written by UF students, are printed on bookmarks that will be distributed at each of the Smathers Libraries during April. The libraries’ public relations and marketing committee chose the winners.
The winning haikus are as follows in no particular order:
This book I want now,
But it’s already on loan.
I must place a hold.
By Joel Davis

My pile of books is
beginning to threaten me.
I fear it may fall.
By Laurie N. Taylor

The world unfolded.
Our life, a book mark in time,
At the library.
By Frank Curran
