LeiLani S. Freund to receive ‘My Favorite Martian Award’
LeiLani Freund, chair, Humanities and Social Sciences Services, University of Florida, George A. Smathers Libraries is the 2007 recipient of the Machine-Assisted Reference Section (MARS) Recognition Certificate, also known as the ‘My Favorite Martian Award.’
MARS, a section of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), administers the award.It is given to an individual to recognize excellence in service to MARS.
“LeiLani Freund has amply shown her dedication to MARS and RUSA through both membership and leadership roles for over a dozen years,” said Rosemary Meszaros, chair of MARS Achievement Recognition Certificate Committee. “She is also being recognized for her mentorship of newer members.”
The certificate will be presented at the MARS Chair’s Program, “Harnessing the Hive: Social Networks and Libraries” on June 24, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., during the 2007 ALA Annual Conference held in Washington, D.C.
