JOB DESCRIPTION:
This application is for Circulation Desk Assistants and Stacks Assistants. Please read the following brief descriptions and indicate which position(s) would interest you most and your reasons for that choice.
1. Circulation Desk Assistants -- Perform routine Circulation Desk services such as: checking books in and out for library patrons, providing basic information and directional assistance either in person or by phone and record such transactions in a service log, referring patrons to appropriate staff or library unit for higher level assistance (Reference, Interlibrary Loan, Government Documents, etc), address or refer complaints or problems that may arise from time to time to appropriate staff, responds to security gate exit alarm by determining the source of the alarm (improperly charged books, personal belongings, videos, etc.). Flexible around class schedule.
2. Stacks Assistant -- Students are assigned a section of the book collection for which they are responsible. They re-shelve the books that are returned for their section. They are solely responsible for keeping their section in order by checking the call numbers, straightening the shelves, reporting problems (damages books, etc.). Schedule: Monday through Friday (daytime) for at least 2 hours each day. Flexible around class schedule.
