- Freezer treated 9,560 items
- Boxed 2,008 items
- Deacidified and encapsulated 1,600 items
- Cleaned and treated the Pagel lantern slide collection
- Assisted Special Collections with set up for three exhibits
- Restored set of four books for Elling Eide at request of UF Foundation
- Assisted on three UF Smathers Libraries mini grants
REPROGRAPHICS:
- Brittle Book program
- Task force charged and began to meet in September. See TF wiki
- Delonda Strawn assigned to coordinate project
- Approximately 3,000 brittle volume backlog retrieved from Digital Library Center
- Selectors review and withdraw approximately 50% of titles
- Titles to be retained are replaced with paper or digital versions as resources allow

- Retrospective Dissertation Scanning Proejct: This project is designed to get the permission of the authors/copyright holders of UF dissertations from PhD recipients in order to scan their dissertation and make a digital copy of the dissertation available online via the UF library catalog in conjunction with the Institutional Repository in the Digital library Center.
- Created workflow for the retrospective dissertation project
- Built tracking database in Microsoft Access
- Completed test of database using dissertations from Electrical Engineering
- Constructed manual of procedures for the workflow of the project
- Began working on web version of the procedural manual
- Statistics:
- Total Permission forms sent: 453
- Total Permission forms received: 143
- As a result of sending permission forms: 115
- Unsolicited permission forms: 28
- Dissertations scanned and available online: 14
- Dissertations prepared to be scanned: 100
- Florida Digital Archive
- 25,250 individual ingest emails moved manually from FDA email Inbox to action specific folders by Delonda Strawn

- Microfilm sales program:
- Program moved back into Preservation from Digital Library Center in Fall.
- Program completely revamped and streamlined. Program home page designed and built.
- Orders for 184 reels of film processed and filled by Department Head between October 2007 and June 2008.
- Credit of $1,472 applied to 2008-2009 print master microfilm storage invoice.
- Item Record Sorting project: 34,803 individual item records manually examined and enhanced to replace non standard MARC terminology by Delonda Strawn
EDUCATION PROVIDED:
- Conservator John Freund gave numerous tours and talks:
- Talk at the Villages (November)
- Staffed a booth with Special Collections at St. Petersburg Antiquarian Book Fair (March )
- Gave departmental tours to:
- Santa Fe High School Book Club
- Terry Harpold and his Technology of the Book class
- Kenneth Kidd and his graduate seminar
- Museum Studies program students
- Cathy Martyniak organized and facilitated the September Town meeting on Safety within the Library
- Cathy Martyniak organized and facilitated the 2007 Hurricane season preparedness training session for all Library Building Emergency coordinators. Weather radios purchased and distributed. Weather radio policy drafted and approved.
STAFF and SPACE:
- Cathy Martyniak returned to work from maternity leave full time in August
- Christy Shorey came to Preservation full time in March
- Delonda Strawn (OPS) moved from Item Record sorting project to Brittle Book coordinator
- Room 7B converted from microfilm camera room/DLC storage to Review Room. Two computers set up for Collection Manager use during brittle book review
- Scanner and Color printer proposed, ordered, arrived and set up in Review Room for tip ins and magazine covers
- Deteriorated sink under loft replaced in Fall
- Preservation Holiday centerpiece (three Christmas trees with Preservation related decorations) wins second place in Centerpiece contest.
- Top two levels of Preservation web site converted to approved Technical Services web template during Fall.
- Hosted an intern from USF who worked 40 hours in Conservation, 40 hours on retrospective dissertation scanning proejct and 40 hours in DLC scanning dissertations.
