GOALS:

Review and document procedures relating to advanced treatments, including the use of transfer/treatment approval forms.

Continue Special Collections
protective enclosure project.

Restructure the Conservation Unit statistics to document the use of new equipment.

Migration of monthly statistical information, supply forms, and Registry form to ACCESS.
-
Develop procedures for the handling and transportation of materials from Special Collections for both in-house treatments and treatments by outside vendors.
That we plan to continue normal business goes without saying. But, it bears
repeating that we endeavor to find more efficient ways of doing the same
old thing. Find out how we propose to develop efficiency
in continuing business.

Document procedures relating to the most recently acquired equipment.

Review and revise, as web-based documents, in collaboration with the Department
of Special Collections, extant treatment registry forms, condition reports,
treatment proposal forms, and transmital form.

Progress:
9/22/98. In the process of revising and combining the transmittal, treatment, and transfer forms.
11/9/98. Forms combined into one form. Given to Special Collections Steering Committee for comment.
3/99. Still have not heard from Special Collections. They indicated that they wanted to combine with their own forms.

Continue Special
Collections protective enclosure project to protect fragile and deteriorating
special collections which can not be repaired as a result of cost, embrittlement,
or value of original state.

Performance Measure:

Successful enclosure of no less than 400 volumes in CMI boxes.
NOTE: Identification of volumes requires successful collaboration
with the Department of Special Collections.

Progress:
9/22/98 A student has been assigned from Special Collections for 5 hours per week, to measure and record box sizes. Currently has completed over 100 measurements.
3/99 Have received 1000 boxes. Orders out for 1000 more. Final order of 250 will go in in April.
After that we will start building database for next year.
