All library users share in the responsibility for making the libraries safe and pleasant places for research, reading, study, and productive work. Please observe the rules and guidelines outlined below. Please report activities that interfere with your use of the libraries or that represent violation of these rules to the nearest service desk.

  1. Library users should be considerate of others by keeping noise levels low enough not to disrupt study and research of others.
  2. Library users should abide by the libraries' computer policies as outlined in Computer Use Policy.
  3. Library users are expected to comply with library policies that relate to fair use and copyright law compliance and to license agreements governing use of certain library resources.
  4. Food and drink may not be consumed in the libraries with the exception of water in spill proof containers such as sports bottles or “library mugs”.   No food or drink are permitted while using computers or specialized collections. (Classroom rule in Student Guide)
  5. Smoking and use of tobacco products are not permitted in the libraries. (Florida Statutes Sect. 386.201), (UF rule 6c1-2.018)
  6. Cell phones must be turned to the off position when entering the Libraries for both receiving and sending calls.  Pagers must be set to vibrate.
  7. Theft or mutilation of materials will be prosecuted through campus authorities and the police. (UF rule 6c1-1.008b)
  8. Disruptive, inappropriate, or threatening behavior will be reported to the police and campus authorities. (UF rule 6c1-1.008)
  9. Library users are responsible for their personal belongings and should not leave them unattended.
  10. Skateboards, rollerskates, in line skates, or similar devices may not be used in the libraries. (UF rule 6c1-2.0162)
