Architecture Archives

As a partnership between the Smathers Libraries and the School of Architecture since 2004, the Architecture Archives has become a leading repository for historical records pertaining to the architects and architecture of Florida. Initial activities have focused on a handful of important collections, including the archives of Alfred Browning Parker, Kenneth Treister, Rufus Nims, Darrell Fleeger, and the Carrère and Hastings firm. The collections support scholarly research, historic preservation, and the education of future students.

Among the collections available to researchers are the archives of Rufus Nims, F. Blair Reeves, Jefferson M. Hamilton, Edward T. Potter, and Rudolph Weaver.

Access to these collections is provided by the alphabetically arranged complete list of Architecture Archives collections. In addition, you can search the finding aids in the department or browse certain collections that have been grouped under subject headings.

A handful of important collections, including the archives of Alfred Browning Parker, Kenneth Treister, Darrell Fleeger, and the Carrère and Hastings firm, currently are being preserved, arranged and described by staff. As such, final descriptions for these collections are not available online at this time.

Alfred Browning Parker Architecture Archives Endowment

We are pleased to announce the creation of the Alfred Browning Parker Architecture Archives Endowment, a new initiative intended to support and strengthen the Architecture Archives in the Libraries. The endowment is named in honor of Professor Emeritus Alfred Browning Parker, the distinguished Florida architect and UF alumnus. Additional information is available on the Parker Endowment home page.
