Wesley Boyd

Almost nothing is known about Wesley Boyd, other than that his residence was listed as Fort Myers, Florida. There is a W.R. Boyd, who in 1889 served as a councilman in Fort Myers, but it is unknown if this is the same man. The Fort Myers Press in April 1892 lists G.S. Boyd as proprietor of the Caloosa Hotel, and it is possible that Wesley and G.S. were related. Boyd's age is unknown at the time of the Expedition. He was assigned to Mess No. 2. He only participated on the Expedition until March 19 at Fort Shackleford, when he opted to return to Fort Myers. Alonzo Church refers to him as "Tom Boyd." It is possible that Church confused Wesley Boyd with Tom Haskew because both were Fort Myers men who returned to Fort Myers after the party reached Fort Shackleford.
