William Filer

The Expedition texts mention that Filer operated a store in Lemon City. William A. Filer known as "Willie" or "Will" moved to Lemon City and started the business in 1891. His family, including uncle Samuel Filer, were longtime residents of the region. In the early 1900s he was a leading member of Dade County and was instrumental in development of Miami, serving for a time as treasurer of the county.
