Expedition Advance Group

The Expedition party split into two groups on April 4 with a small group consisting of J.W. Newman, J.E. Ingraham, S.O. Chase, and W.R. Moses, along with their Seminole guide, Billy Harney, taking boats to travel to Miami quickly and return with supplies for the majority who were staying behind as a secondary group following on foot. On April 7, the groups were reunited in Miami. Most of the party left for home from Miami or stayed behind in Miami to complete the survey. Ingraham, Chase and Moses traveled home to Sanford up the east coast.
