April 5 Camp for the Secondary Group

This camp was not given a number or name. The Expedition party had split on April 4 with a small group traveling via boat with guide Billy Harney to Miami and the majority staying behind as a secondary group following on foot. The secondary group, led by D.M. Baker and Alonzo Church, were looking for a place to camp on April 5 when they found a pair of S.O. Chase's pants tied to a tree as a sign alerting them that the smaller group had camped there the night before. Although not stated explicitly in any of the texts, it is possible that this was the Island No. 4 camp used by the smaller group.

Geographic Location: Unknown.

Camp Established: April 5, Tuesday

Camp Departure: April 6, Wednesday
