Phil N. Handley

Phil N. Handley or Fillmore Nelson Handley was a native and lifelong resident of West Virginia. Census and other records list him living in Greenbrier County, WV in 1894, and in Lewisburg, WV in 1900-1910. He married Alleria "Allie" Lee Cunningham on August 8, 1894. He would have been 23 years old at the time of the Expedition. He was assigned to Mess No. 2.

Unable to locate sources definitively identifying Fillmore Nelson "Phil" Handley as the Phil. N. Handley who participated in the Expedition. However, given that Handley is consistently listed in census and other records living in West Virginia, confidence is high.
