Jacksonville, Tampa & Key West System
Traveling from Juno to Jupiter, the Expedition party rode on the Jupiter & Lake Worth Railway, also known as the Celestial Railroad. This railway was part of the Jacksonville, Tampa & Key West System. The J.T. & K.W. Railway opened in 1879 started expanding south in 1885, linking Jacksonville with cities such as Sanford and Titusville. The company also established the Indian River Steamboat Company to handle transportation between Titusville and Jupiter. Most of the J.T. & K.W. lines became part of the Plant System in 1899 and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1902.
