George J. Mercier

Ingraham and party departed Jupiter on the steamship St. Sebastian with Captain George J. Mercier heading north to Titusville. Mercier moved to Florida in the early 1880s. He worked on the St. Johns River for the De Bary Merchants Line between 1881 and 1884. He then worked as a captain for the Indian River Steamboat Company on steamships such as the St. Sebastian and the St. Augustine. He moved to Miami in 1901, working as a charter boat captain.
