J.E. Minchin

J.E. (Joseph Edward) Minchin was born in Florida and lived most of his life in Chipley. Census and other records show him living in Jackson County, Florida in 1885. He married Mary Eliza McColskey on September 15, 1897. He operated retail businesses in Chipley, including the store, J.E. Minchin and Co., with partner J.R. McGeachy in the 1890s, and Minchin and Co., which sold clothing, shoes and hats around 1910. He would have been 32 years old at the time of the Expedition. He was assigned to Mess No. 2.

Note about confidence of this information:

Unable to locate sources definitively identifying Joseph Edward Minchin as the J.E. Minchin who participated in the Expedition. However, given that Minchin lived most of his life in Chipley, Florida, which was listed as Minchin's residence in the Expedition record, confidence is high.
