Ezra A. Osborn

The Expedition record refers to cocoanuts planted by Field and Osborne on land between Cape Florida and Lake Worth. This refers to Elnathan T. Field and Ezra A. Osborn (not "Osborne"). Field and Osborn were from Middletown, New Jersey. In the 1880s, they and other investors purchased about 65 miles of oceanfront property between Jupiter and Cape Florida to experiment with growing cocoanuts. Their cultivation efforts failed, and they sold off most of their land to other investors. Osborn worked as a civil engineer and owned two farms in Middletown.
