Jack Robeson

John Evans "Jack" Robeson was an early settler of Fort Meade, Florida. He moved there in 1872. He worked variously as a millwright, engineer, and surveyor. He operated the Garden of Eden real estate agency, which in 1882 offered surveying, plotting, and other services. He surveyed a lot of the land owned by Hamilton Disston and other investors, including land in the Everglades. In his diary, Ingraham states that one of the Hendry brothers told him that Jack Robeson had determined the location of Sam Jones Old Town was two miles north of Fort Shackleford.
