Fort Simmons

Fort Simmons, also known as Camp Simmons, was a United States military fort in the 1840s on the south bank of the Caloosahatchee River to the east of Ft. Myers. The fort was used in the Second Seminole War and the Third Seminole War. Expedition Camp No. 3 was located near roads running southward to Fort Simon Drum and Camp Rogers and near a government road running north to Fort Simmons on the river. The texts refer to Fort Simmons incorrectly as Fort "Simons".
