Snake Creek

The Expedition texts describe the Brickell family trading post and trade with the Seminoles, and it is mentioned that the Seminoles often prefer to travel to Miami via Snake Creek from the north rather than the Miami River. Snake Creek, also called Big Snake Creek, connected with the Biscayne Bay in the region that is now near North Miami Beach. The name was changed to the Oleta River in 1922, and now the mouth of the river is part of the Oleta River State Park.
