The Insurance Dept.
at the Czarnikow-Rionda Company was created circa 1954 and was responsible
for insuring the employees, property, and assets of the company, its subsidiaries,
and its affiliates. The records in this series relate solely to insurance
matters at the house estates in Cuba. Included are minutes
of the safety committees, reports on site inspections, and statistical
reports on the ratios of man hours worked and arrobas of cane cut to the
number of work related accidents at each mill. Some mention is made
of damages incurred from insurrectionary activity, but this is documented
more heavily in Series 37.
