Czarnikow-Rionda Company. Refined Sugar
Dept.
Records, 1942-1947.

During World War II,
restrictions on the importation of refined sugars (i.e., direct consumption
sugars) were lifted in order to meet military and civilian needs.
Czarnikow-Rionda imported Cuban refined sugars under the brand name King
Kane. Most of that business was centered in the southern states,
most notably Florida. The records in this series--cash statements,
monthly delivery reports, and correspondence-- provide data on the amount
of refined sugars sold by the company.
