    The Bagasse Products Corporation was formed in 1926 as a U.S. corporation.  The purpose of the company was to produce a commercially viable alpha cellulose from cane bagasse.  The start-up capital for the project came from a "Joint Experimental Account"  established by José B. Rionda and Manuel E. Rionda.  The plant was constructed at the Central Tuinucu.  The company was reorganized in 1927 as a Cuban corporation, Celulosa Cubana, S.A.  The company operated for more than fifteen years.
    Series 79 consists of the journals, ledgers, and cash books of both Bagasse Products and Celulosa Cubana.
