The Compañía
Azucarera Elia was organized in 1915 as the proprietor and manager of the
Central Elia in Camagüey, Cuba. In 1916, a majority of the company's
stocks were purchased by individuals associated with the Francisco Sugar
Company, Czarnikow-Rionda, and the Cuban Trading Company. In 1921,
the Francisco Sugar Company became the sole owner of the Elia's common
stock. The Compañía Azucarera Elia was dissolved in 1952,
and management of the mill was passed to the Elia Division of the Francisco
Sugar Company.
