20 (Joseph Ewan) Piriqueta caroliniana (Walt.) Urban
21 (Joseph Ewan) Chapmannia floridana T. & G. Re-determination by Kent Perkins (KP) or J. Richard Abbott (JRA): 19 is Polygonella gracilis Meisn. (Polygonaceae); it is indeed an early season sterile shoot, but the eciliate ocreae and narrow leaves clinch the i.d.
20 - ! Piriqueta cistoides (L.) Griseb. ssp. caroliniana (Walter) Arbo (Turneraceae); Ewan's name is a synonym, with the modern approach being to treat the Florida entity as a subspecies of another entity
21 - ! Chapmannia floridana Torr. & A. Gray (Fabaceae), a Florida endemic; very scrappy material |
