Original identification: 33 (Joseph Ewan) Cassia tora L.
34 (Joseph Ewan) Lythrum lanceolatum Ell.. Re-determination by Kent Perkins (KP) or J. Richard Abbott (JRA): 33 - Senna obtusifolia (L.) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (Fabaceae), not native to Florida, a weed from tropical America; Ewan's name was probably considered correct at some point, but the genus Cassia has been split up and the name C. tora is now considered to have been misapplied to this entity
34 - Lythrum alatum Pursh var. lanceolatum (Elliott) Torr. & A. Gray (Lythraceae); Ewan's name was correct, but it is now considered to be a variety, rather than a distinct species |
