Videos & DVD's in the UF Library Catalog

  • Upon connection, you may then enter any search term(s) (e.g. performer, director, word(s) in a movie title, etc.) in the Advanced Search form to search just within these video records.
  • To try an additional search within video records, you may just type over any search terms you've entered.
  • At any time you may also "drill-down" to records of interest using the clickable facet links on the left of results screens (e.g. limit to "New Titles" , to videos in a particular library, to videos on a particular subject or in a particular language, etc.)
  • You may use the browser BACK button to go back one screen at a time and try something else.
  • Be aware that if you ever click "Start Over" when using the Library Catalog, you will then be searching the entire Library Catalog. If you find that you are searching the entire catalog, to START OVER searching just videos, select ADVANCED SEARCH, select "Video (all formats)" from the Format drop-down, and then click SEARCH (without entering any search term(s).


  • The video search function used in the Previous Library Catalog remains available.
  • It will continue to include all new items. In fact, the newest items will appear in that system first since new video records in the Library Catalog are only added twice weekly at this time.
General Tips About Searching for Videos & DVD's in the UF Library Catalog
  • It is not really necessary to use the links on the left side of this page to begin searching for videos and DVD's; it's easy to display only records for videos andDVD's whenever you are searching the entire catalog.
  • After entering any search (e.g. "Alfred Hitchcock"), there will be Format link shown in the left column of the Results List. Simply click to easily display only the records in the list for videos (if there are any).
  • When using the Advanced Search screen, you may also choose to set the search to limit results to videos by using the Format limit drop-down menu.

Other Tips
  • At any time the list of retrieved records may be sorted  (e.g. by title (of movie), newest, oldest, etc.).
  • As with any Library Catalog search results, you may check any records and click VIEW CHECKED RECORDS to email or print them -- or export them to RefWorks.
  • Be aware that if you ever click "Start Over" when using the Library Catalog, you will then be searching the entire Library Catalog. Setting Up an RSS Feed
  • In addition to being able to display records for videos in the Library Catalog, you may also set up a personalized RSS feed if you would like to be automatically notified about any new video records that have been added to the Library Catalog. Just copy/paste the link under the RSS Feed for this Search button you see on any Library Catalog Results List for videos into your RSS reader
  • Display records for all New Video Titles Now -- This link lists records added within the past 90 days in any UF Library. You may copy/paste the link under the RSS Feed for this Search button on the resulting page into your RSS reader to set up automatic notification of new videos.
