Project Management Toolkit
A Project is...
a non-routine series of tasks directed toward a goal
G. Lynne Snead and Joyce Wycoff
In March 2011 a group of 35 library faculty and staff participated in a two day intensive Project Management Institute provided by DeEtta Jones from DeEtta Jones and Associates.
Participants in this two day Library Project Management Institute were introduced to a four-step project management cycle - Definition - Planning - Implementation and Evaluation.
At the end of these 2 days, a group of participants committed to distill and share the information learned. The result is a simple toolkit that can be used in the Libraries for any project, regardless of size and scope.
The toolkit is comprised of four primary documents, and two sub-documents. The first document is a one page synopsis of the 4 steps for easy reference. Additional worksheets were prepared to assist in fleshing out the Definition, Planning and Evaluation steps, with a Roles and Responsibilities, and a Budget worksheet.
